Since 1988, RnR (previously Rock ‘n’ Reel then R2) has been an an independently-run publication covering a broad base of music, from the mainstream to the fringes of roots, rock, folk, singer-songwriter, blues, world, country and beyond.
In 2018, I sent in a live review (Benji Kirkpatrick and the Excess at The Fleece Inn barn in Bretforton) which was unsolicited and so not published. However, the editor asked me for more and my first live review was published in issue 73 Jan/Feb 2019. This was of the Ballads of Child Migration produced by John Leonard who also gave an “Inside Job” interview which I wrote up.
Since then, I have written a number of CD reviews, live reviews and Insight features. I had also written two “It Started With A Disc” pages on the Crosby, Stills and Nash debut album and Writer Of Songs by Harvey Andrews. There are also “Venues We Love” features of the Holywell Music Room, Huntingdon Hall, Nettlebed Folk Club, the Fleece Inn Bretforton, the Chipping Norton Theatre, Settle Victoria Hall and the Boston Gliderdrome.
Also in 2019 with issue 75 in May/June, I took on the role of News Editor.
Being only an “occasional writer”, I have written a handful of main articles. Click here to buy a back issue of RnR.
